Surgery
Surgical private practice
The purpose of outpatient surgery is to provide people with minor procedures in an ambulatory care setting that don't require anesthesia or extended hospital stays.
After the treatment, the patient can therefore leave our institution to return at a pre-arranged time for a control examination or possible bandaging.
What kind of problems can an outpatient surgery doctor treat?
In general, this branch deals with all palpable and physically detectable skin and soft tissue changes that can be treated surgically.
Thus, patients visit outpatient surgery most often with painful and painless skin or soft tissue lesions, uncomplaining gallstones, abdominal wall hernias, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and thyroid gland enlargement.
The most common outpatient surgical procedures are:
-
Removal of moles and other benign skin problems (such as abscesses, papules, fatty lumps, warts).
-
Excision of lymph nodes close to the skin and their transmission for histological analysis.
-
Cutting out ingrown and inflamed nail parts.
-
Of thrombosed, i.e. filled with blood clots, painful hemorrhoids and abscesses and fistulas near the anus.
-
Treatment of minor skin and soft tissue injuries.
What happens during an outpatient surgery examination?
The first step of the examination is always the preparation of the anamnesis. The surgeon thoroughly questions the patient about the symptoms experienced, while assessing and recording his condition and the lesion in question.
Knowing the clinical picture, the surgeon may need additional specialist examinations in order to make an accurate diagnosis, which is particularly important before an intervention.
In all cases, complaints determine the further course of the specialist order. For example, laboratory and imaging tests, as well as functional tests, are often essential for the exact diagnosis of the disease.
In the case of problems with the rectum, for example, in many cases, the medical history is supplemented by some sort of instrumental check, while in the case of complaints related to varicose veins, a Doppler examination may also be essential.
There are cases when the knowledge of the symptoms and the physical examination alone are sufficient for the outpatient intervention to be performed. In such cases, the first step is always the disinfection of the given surface and the application of the anesthetic.
During outpatient surgical treatment, there is no anesthesia, the patient is awake throughout, but does not feel pain, at most only deep sensations such as pressure. Most outpatient surgical procedures rarely last longer than 30-60 minutes, which of course includes the anamnesis.
At the end of the interventions, a sterile bandage is applied to the treated surface in all cases. If follow-up treatment or a check-up is necessary, the patient always agrees with the attending physician, otherwise the treated person recovers at home and takes care of the bandage change.
